This Classic Homemade Apple Pie features a flaky, buttery crust filled with perfectly spiced apples, making it the ultimate dessert for any occasion.

  • 2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
  • 67 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

 

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the apples: In a bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Roll out the pie dough: Place one crust into a 9-inch pie pan. Add the apple filling. Dot with butter pieces.
  • Top with the second crust: Seal and crimp edges. Cut slits on top for ventilation. Brush with egg wash for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
