Classic Italian Tiramisu

A slice of Classic Italian Tiramisu with visible layers and cocoa powder

A rich and creamy Classic Italian Tiramisu made with layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong espresso, cooled
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (for dusting)

 

Instructions

  • Prepare the espresso and let it cool.
  • Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a bowl until light and creamy.
  • Add mascarpone and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Fold in whipped cream gently to keep the mixture airy.
  • Quickly dip ladyfingers into espresso and layer them in a dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat layers, finishing with mascarpone cream on top.
  • Chill for at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
  • Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

 

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, use decaf espresso.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, add a tablespoon of coffee liqueur to the espresso.
  • Best served chilled for optimal flavor.
