2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 eggs
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lb spaghetti
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 can (28 oz) crushed San Marzano tomatoes
1 teaspoon sugar
Fresh basil for garnish
In a large bowl, combine beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, eggs, garlic, onion, parsley, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
Form mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes or pan-fry until browned.
In a large saucepan, heat olive oil. Sauté garlic and onion until softened.
Add crushed tomatoes, sugar, and salt. Simmer for 20–30 minutes.
Add cooked meatballs to the sauce. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.
Toss spaghetti with sauce. Plate and top with meatballs.
